Parenting and Family Focus

I offer support for parents looking have a better experience in the family unit or in their relationship.  This includes concerns relating to: parenting; anger; communication; sexuality; separations or other family transitions; decision making; family or sibling conflict; couple or family dissatisfaction; blended family challenges; identity and finding self. 

Internet, Social Media, & Gaming 

I offer support for those who are experiencing challenges with use of electronic devices, internet, or social media.  This may include constant or over use of cellphones, social media over-use, video or other game addictions, online shopping challenges, or other problems associated with these kinds of technologies. Support offered for individuals and parents experiencing these challenges with their children. 

Individual Concerns

I can provide support for individuals experiences a wide range of concerns including: anxiety and stress; depression or low mood; post-partum depression or difficult transition to parenthood; concentration and motivation issues; decision making and life transitions; relationship challenges; identity and sense of self; challenges with eating and body image; grief and loss. 

Counselling Framework and Approach


I strongly believe that you have the inner resources to better your life.  My goal, first and foremost, is to work with you to search for personal attributes and resources that you can strengthen in order to make positive changes.  I will direct you to develop a stronger connection to yourself (increased self-awareness) so that you can learn to be your best advocate and gain the skills to help yourself.  I want you to be empowered and inspired. 


Positive Psychology

As the name suggests, Positive psychology emphasizes the positive aspects of a person’s life – what makes them happy, what brings them joy.  By identifying the elements of life that are joyful, they actually become bigger, more obvious, and more impactful!  As the saying goes, “where attention goes, energy flow.” While we will certainly address challenges that you are experiencing, I will also help you to shift your focus toward positivity so that you find yourself experiencing more happiness in your day-to-day life, regardless of your situation. Who wouldn’t want that?


Narrative Therapy

The stories we tell ourselves about our lives - who we are, how we fit into the world, and what we expect from ourselves today and in the future - hold significant meaning. The words we use shape our reality. Narrative therapy helps us realize the power of our words. This approach helps us let go of rigid stories that no longer serve us well, and to re-create new narratives that are more life-enhancing.  



Solution-focused therapy is a goal-directed approach to making changes in your life.  You can expect me to ask about specific changes you want to make, and together, we will come up with a plan to reach your goals.  It is important that you feel heard and understood and that you are supported to make positive changes in your life.  And so, the focus of our work will be on where you want to end up, rather than where you have been.  Research studies show us that this kind of therapy is very effective with email-based counselling.
